soon after the counting (it was midnight) we were on our way to the camp... since I never rode a reindeer in my life I had to walk there, it was 5 km away from Eyume and it took us 2 hours... when I came there I saw 3 tents, a new looking one was for us.

a view from inside

This is the first time in my entire life when I saw reindeer with my own eyes! and a little Bamby was there too. :)

This is the way they count reindeer, it was not easy I should say...

These are the children who helped me understand the importance of children and junior youth classes. I have never met such children in my life and I miss them a lot now when I'm so far from them. Hope that they remember the quotations and prayers we memorised together... :)
Please meet Dima (11), Maxim (6) and Masha (8).
Here you see Vlasik(10), Dima, Maxim, Kirill (10), Masha and Edik (8).

Here you see the traditional way of introducing newcomers to the place: each one of us brought a small piece of cloth that was tied to the main cloth and the whole thing was tied to the tree.

This is a very small village called Eyume, there are not more then 5 houses and it serves as a base for several reindeer herders' camps. In these houses they keep their food and other stuff.
We arrived on the 24th of Julyand on the 25th it snowed and you can see snow covered mountains in the background. It was cold!!! Brrrrrr!!!
The pic was taken on the third day after our arrival (I couldn't do anything at least for 3 days after 10 hours horse-riding...) :)
We are on our way again.
A mother and a child.

On our way we had a short stop over at another reindeer herders' camp. Here you see people who lived all their lives in taiga and tundra. The woman is making a cradle for a baby. By the way, it was raining but they remained outside next to the fire. In the background you see a tent - a common living facility in taiga and tundra.
Kiril and Maxim are very happy... they don't know how many hours does it take to get to the camp...
but they made it!

These horses were waiting for us to take us to the camp.

Good bye Road and thank you...

Actually, I was not the only traveller. There were 5 of us: me, Lena and her two sons and their friend. Here is a pic of our team, I'm not there cause I was taking it. First of all we had to cross Lena river, in the pics u c a boat that took us across the river.

my trip to the reindeer herders camp

this is a pic from my recent trip to the reindeer herders camp. Almost everything was for the first time in my life. So, riding a horse was for the first time in my life... and horseriding for 10 hours (!!!) was for the first time in my life...

StarTing...

here i am, just to get it done cause there was an idea to create one for all my friends out there.
So, i'm in Yakutsk which is a capital city of the Sakha Republic (North Far East of Russia) and will be staying here for one year at least. If anyone would like to come and visit Yakutsk, you are welcome! :)
